90min is the home of the PFA Vertu Motors Fans’ Player of the Month Award for the 2022/23 season.

Each month, you can vote for your favourite players across five divisions of English football, for the chance to win incredible prizes, including the opportunity to present the award to the winning player.

Michael Carrick's Middlesbrough really kicked into life in December, and at the heart of their efforts was November's award winner Chuba Akpom.

The forward continued his scoring exploits with four goals in four games, grabbing the opener against Luton and then a hat-trick at the expense of Wigan.

2. Amad Diallo (Sunderland)

By the end of December, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag was facing questions over whether he should recall Amad Diallo from his loan spell at Sunderland.

The Ivorian winger scored in wins against Millwall and Wigan, while he converted from the penalty spot in a narrow loss at home to West Brom.

3. Ross Stewart (Sunderland)

Staying on Wearside, Sunderland's promotion hopes have been massively boosted by the return of star striker Ross Stewart.

The Scot has missed much of the season with a hamstring problem, but scored in each of his three comeback appearances in December to show he's still got goals in him.

4. Viktor Gyokeres (Coventry City)

Coventry didn't enjoy the best of months, but that was not the fault of Sweden striker Viktor Gyokeres.

The in-demand forward scored one and assisted one in the Sky Blues' 3-3 draw at home to Swansea before firing in the winner against West Brom. He also scored Coventry's consolation in a 3-1 loss at high-flying Sheffield United.

5. Iliman Ndiaye (Sheffield United)

Speaking of Sheffield United, they round off this list with two nominees.

The first is Iliman Ndiaye, who returned to Blades action less than a week after being knocked out of the World Cup with Senegal.

His remarkable rise continued back at Bramall Lane, grabbing at least one assist in each of his four matches last month.

6. James McAtee (Sheffield United)

Rounding off the list is midfielder James McAtee, who has impressed this year while on loan from Manchester City.

The 20-year-old was pivotal to the Blades' perfect December, and even chipped in with goals against Coventry and Blackpool.
