By the end of December, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag was facing questions over whether he should recall Amad Diallo from his loan spell at Sunderland.

The Ivorian winger scored in wins against Millwall and Wigan, while he converted from the penalty spot in a narrow loss at home to West Brom.

3. Ross Stewart (Sunderland)

Staying on Wearside, Sunderland's promotion hopes have been massively boosted by the return of star striker Ross Stewart.

The Scot has missed much of the season with a hamstring problem, but scored in each of his three comeback appearances in December to show he's still got goals in him.

4. Viktor Gyokeres (Coventry City)
