Manchester United are quickly back in action as the Champions League group stage concludes this week, with Young Boys the visitors to Old Trafford in Ralf Rangnick's first European game in charge.

The new interim manager oversaw a promising 1-0 victory against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday, during which United appeared to be much improved tactically and lined up in what can best be described as a 4-2-2-2 formation.

Keen to look at more of his squad in a game setting, Rangnick has confirmed he intends to make a number of changes for this one. Here's a look at how the team could line up...

Man Utd predicted lineup vs Young Boys

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Dean Henderson (GK) - A summer bout of COVID-19 wrecked his chances of taking the number one jersey from David de Gea and this will be only his second first-team appearance of the season.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB) - Suddenly has genuine competition from a resurgent Diogo Dalot but will get an opportunity to stake his own claim for a place here.

Eric Bailly (CB) - With Harry Maguire to be rested, the Ivorian will get his fifth start of the season so far. He needs a big performance.

Victor Lindelof (CB) - Rangnick could opt for home-grown starlet Teden Mengi but may prefer not to tinker too much. The youngster could appear later in the game if the circumstances are right.

Alex Telles (LB) - The Brazilian is enjoying a good run in the team at the moment, giving Luke Shaw much needed rest and time to recover.

2. Midfielders

Scott McTominay (CM) - Probably hasn't been at his best this term because of an injury that disrupted his pre-season. This is an important opportunity to continue building his match sharpness.

Nemanja Matic (CM) -
The veteran will captain the side in Harry Maguire's absence and has already confirmed he plans to take the armband home to be framed as a memento of the honour.

Jadon Sancho (AM) - Started against Crystal Palace but the potential absence of Jesse Lingard means there is every cause for him to also start here as well after much improved recent form.

Donny van de Beek (AM) -
Started in the last Champions League match and has featured off the bench in five Premier League games in a row. This is a big chance for him to prove himself.

3. Forwards

Mason Greenwood (ST) - Got 25 minutes off the bench on Sunday for his first involvement since testing positive for coronavirus last month. Needs minutes to rebuild his match fitness.

Anthony Elanga (ST) - The teenager has been in top form at Under-23 and UEFA Youth League level this season and was immediately handed an opportunity off the bench by Rangnick at the weekend.
