Former Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is among Club Brugge's candidates to replace Scott Parker.

The Norwegian has been out of work since leaving the Red Devils in November 2021, though is said to have turned down various offers to return to the game.

Solskjaer's latest opportunity to return to management could come at Brugge, who are on the hunt for a new permanent boss after sacking Parker last month.

The Belgian side reached the last 16 of this season's UEFA Champions League, but were eliminated by Benfica.

It is now being widely reported across Europe that Brugge could turn to Solskjaer, though he is not their top choice for the role.

The Times claim compatriot Ronny Deila, formerly of Celtic and New York City FC, is under consideration, as is former Bayern Munich assistant Dino Toppmoller.

Solskjaer left United following a poor start to the 2021/22 season, with the Red Devils failing to kick on after the signings of Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho.

He had overseen a period of relative stability following his initial appointment as caretaker manager in December 2018, with his contract made permanent later that season.

United recorded successive top-four finishes in Solskjaer's two full campaigns in charge - finishing second in 2020/21 - and also reached the final of the UEFA Europa League in 2021, losing to Villarreal on penalties.

Solskjaer's departure from Old Trafford was amicable and he notably gave an emotional parting interview with club media.

What has Solskjaer been doing since leaving Man Utd?

Solskjaer initially chose to remain in England at his Cheshire home following his exit from United and was on hand to pass on advice to interim successor Ralf Rangnick.

He would often go to watch his daughter play for United's youth team, while he sent a hamper to club staff at Christmas.

The Athletic previously reported Solskjaer has spent time rewatching all 168 of his games in charge of United in an attempt to learn from his mistakes and better himself.

Solskjaer has since returned to Norway and has coached his son's Under-14 team at Kristiansund.
