Man City will be keen to maintain top spot in the Premier League heading into Christmas as they travel to face lowly Newcastle this weekend.

The Magpies are joint bottom of the Premier League after registering just one victory all season, having conceded seven goals across their last two games.

Meanwhile, seven has been the lucky number for Pep Guardiola's side after hitting Leeds for seven in midweek to stretch their winning run in the league to seven games following defeat to Crystal Palace in October.

Here's everything you need to know about the game.

Jamal Lewis limped off for the Magpies early in the first half at Anfield in midweek, meaning his involvement this weekend is likely to be doubtful.

Elsewhere, Paul Dummett is back in training after a lengthy lay-off with a calf injury, but Federico Fernandez will not feature.

Kyle Walker missed out for Man City in midweek with a knock, which means John Stones could continue at full back this weekend.

Pep Guardiola has a clean bill of squad health otherwise, with Ferran Torres the only exception as he continues his recovery from a serious foot injury. The manager himself has had to wait for a fresh PCR test after his first result returned inconclusive.

City are unbeaten in ten out of their last 11 meetings with Newcastle stretching back to 2015.

On top of that, Guardiola's side have won the last four straight against the Magpies, including a frenetic 4-3 victory at St. James' Park towards the end of last season.

Newcastle took a 3-2 lead on the hour mark through Joe Willock before a quickfire Ferran Torres double spared the blushes for the eventual champions that day.

Effectively a top against bottom meeting, Guardiola will be hoping for a complete performance from his side as they aim to stave off Liverpool in the developing title race.

Newcastle shipped three against the Reds in midweek and it's difficult to envisage Howe's side suddenly becoming defensively sound when the free-scoring Cityzens arrive this weekend.

Guardiola may opt to rotate his side, but a comfortable victory for Man City awaits nevertheless.

Prediction: Newcastle 0-3 Man City
