Eddie Howe's Newcastle United make the trip to Merseyside to face an Everton side led by a familiar foe in the Premier League on Thursday night.

In the immediate aftermath of Everton's ten-point deduction, Howe was confident that the Toffees would not succumb to relegation as they had "an incredible manager" in charge. Rather than a throwaway platitude, Howe's comments came from his own grim experience against Sean Dyche.

During various spells at Watford, Burnley (where he took over from Howe) and Everton, Dyche has defeated Howe seven times. Only Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola can boast more victories over Newcastle's current coach.

Here's the lineup Howe may deploy to avoid another loss against his familiar conqueror.

GK: Martin Dubravka - Before any deal for David De Gea can be agreed, Dubravka will patrol the posts this Thursday.

RB: Kieran Trippier - The former Burnley full-back credits Dyche with turning his career around. "I was still going out when I was younger - drinking - and I wasn't looking after myself properly," Trippier recalled. "He came in and sorted it all out."

CB: Jamaal Lascelles - Newcastle's captain is revelling in his newfound importance to the side - and why shouldn't he? "I'm enjoying every minute of it," Lascelles beamed recently.

CB: Fabian Schar - It was thanks to the sort of injury crisis that Newcastle are currently enduring, Schar got his break as a 16-year-old playing for Swiss sixth-tier side Wil.

LB: Tino Livramento - Eligible for Portugal and Scotland, Gareth Southgate may be best advised to quickly cap Newcastle's picture of perpetual motion down either flank.

CM: Lewis Miley - When the COVID-19 pandemic first struck in the UK, Miley was just 13. The teenager hasn't looked out of place in the senior side.

CM: Bruno Guimaraes - The city of Newcastle has been gripped by Bruno Mania since the midfielder's arrival. "I've met people who've got a tattoo with my face on," an incredulous Guimaraes revealed. "It's nuts."

CM: Joelinton - The Brazilian's days as a misfiring number nine seem like a fever dream - now the combative midfielder leads the entire Newcastle squad for interceptions.

RW: Miguel Almiron - It was Almiron's curling strike that settled the first meeting between Everton and Newcastle last season.

ST: Alexander Isak - On Newcastle's last visit to Goodison Park, Isak produced the assist of the season, dancing his way down the wing before teeing up Jacob Murphy from close range, with a gaggle of knotted Everton defenders in his wake.

LW: Anthony Gordon - The royally in-form forward has been suffering through recent performances. "It's not just the lads that are injured, the ones that are playing have kicks and bruises," Gordon revealed. "I'm limping!"
