Newcastle play host to fellow Premier League strugglers Everton on Tuesday, and hope is in the air at St James' Park.

The Magpies were extremely active in January and three of their additions: Matt Targett, Dan Burn and Bruno Guimaraes could take to the field for the first time against the Toffees.

Here is the full starting XI Eddie Howe is likely to rely on to get the job done...

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Kieran Trippier

Martin Dubravka (GK) - Newcastle were keen to recruit a new goalkeeper in January, but no deal materialised. They will now have to manage with Dubravka between the sticks for the rest of the season.

Kieran Trippier (RB) - Trippier's delivery from wide is going to be key this term.

Fabian Schar (CB) - On current form he deserves a spot in the side over the club captain Jamaal Lascelles, who is injured for this one.

Dan Burn (CB) - Lascelles was forced off last time out so while Burn is not 100% fit, he should still get a debut.

Matt Targett (LB) - With Trippier on one side and Targett on the other, Newcastle can be assured of plenty of assists from wide areas before the end of the season.

2. Midfielders

Joe Willock

Joe Willock (CM) - Scored the vital winner against Leeds last time out. That should be enough to see him keep his place.

Jonjo Shelvey (CM) - Probably the standout performer since Howe took over at St James' Park.

Bruno Guimaraes (CM) - There has not been more hype for a debut in the North East since Juninho signed for Middlesbrough...

3. Forwards

Chris Wood

Joelinton (RW) - Joelinton has been terrific in midfield so far this season but competition for places could see him shunted out on the right.

Chris Wood (ST) - Yet to score for his new club and will be desperate to end his drought on Tuesday.

Allan Saint-Maximin (LW) - The only pre-January transfer window Newcastle player who the club is not looking to sell... probably.
