Newcastle will look to continue their unbeaten return to the Champions League when they host Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night.

Eddie Howe has overseen an eight-game run with defeat and most recently saw his side overpower Crystal Palace 4-0 at St James' Park. Last time out in the Champions League, the Magpies smashed Paris Saint-Germain 4-1.

German opposition Dortmund need points desperately, having drawn and lost one apiece of their first two games, while Howe has a few injury concerns to consider.

Here's the side Newcastle could put out at St James' Park on Wednesday.

GK: Nick Pope - Has another few weeks to force himself back into the England set-up, having missed out on selection for the October fixtures.

RB: Kieran Trippier - Grabbed his sixth league assist of the campaign by setting up Jacob Murphy against Palace.

CB: Jamaal Lascelles - Revealed he was "adamant" Newcastle would beat PSG, though also said "There's not a team on the planet that can come to St James' and have their own way regardless of individuals, the badge they play for or how much money they've been bought for," which seems ironic.

CB: Fabian Schar - Put the icing on the PSG win with a thumping strike from distance.

LB: Dan Burn - Another of the scorers against the French champions, Burn's physique can mark him out for targeting but few forwards have got the better of him since his move to Newcastle.

CM: Joelinton - Made his return to the Newcastle lineup against Palace and should get another chance to build up his fitness.

CM: Bruno Guimaraes - Has shown his feisty side of late, picking up three yellow cards in his last five games.

CM: Sean Longstaff - Has three goals in his last five games and poked fun at a hoax which suggested he had requested time off to go travelling with brother Matty.

RW: Miguel Almiron - Was the scorer of the first Champions League goal at St James' Park in 20 years when he struck against PSG.

ST: Alexander Isak - Got a 20-minute cameo against Palace and his combative presence and pace in behind should see Isak start ahead of Callum Wilson.

LW: Anthony Gordon - Recently revealed how his fiery reaction to being substituted against Brentford in April has strengthened his relationship with manager Howe.
