Newcastle's success under Eddie Howe has been built off the club's almost stoic approach to recruitment.

The Magpies have the capacity to do what Todd Boehly has done at Chelsea following their change of ownership, but they're yet to scatter the bullets akin to the American businessman.

Sure, Newcastle have spent a healthy amount of cash to facilitate a major improvement, but the January window has been a pretty quiet one on all fronts for the Tynesiders, who are hoping to end the season in the top four and with the Carabao Cup in their back pocket.

Here are all of Newcastle's confirmed ins and outs from the January transfer window.

Newcastle January signings

Newcastle conducted their first piece of business just two days before deadline day as they signed Everton's Anthony Gordon in a deal that could rise to £45m.

It's a signing that's been ridiculed by many, especially Everton fans, but the 21-year-old is poised to thrive in Eddie Howe's 4-3-3 at St. James' Park. The industrious wide man is everything Howe wants in a winger, and it seems that some supporters have forgotten who Everton's Young Player of the Season and Players' Player of the Season was in 2021/22.

Sure, he might not yet be prolific, but this is an addition that aligns with Newcastle's savviness in the transfer market.

Confirmed Newcastle January signings

  • Anthony Gordon joined from Everton (£40m)
  • Harrison Ashby joined from West Ham (£3m)
  • Martin Dubravka returned from Man Utd loan
  • Matty Longstaff returned from Colchester loan

Newcastle January departures

There's little to write home about on this front. With Alexander Isak returning from injury, the Magpies were happy to let Chris Wood leave this month and the New Zealander has joined Nottingham Forest on loan.

Garang Kuol, who joined from Central Coast Mariners in September, has also moved out on loan, signing for Hearts.
