It's the competition we never knew we really wanted, but now at the business end, it's really starting to deliver.

The UEFA Nations League is still in its infancy as a tournament, with the second ever final looming on the horizon. The previous edition's semi-finalists of England, Switzerland, Holland and Portugal pale in comparison to the 2021 version, where we've seen two sensational games play out in Italy.

The Azzurri, Belgium, Spain and France were the final four this time round, and the latter pair progressed to the final, beating Italy 2-1 and the Red Devils 3-2 respectively.

Sunday evening sees the Blues and the Red Fury go head to head at San Siro, with some of the game's biggest names taking to the field on either side. But which players would make a combined XI from Spain and France?

90min has got your questions covered.

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Hugo Lloris (GK) - Despite being a World Cup winner and an elite level goalkeeper for years, Lloris' quality still gets questioned. He made a wonder-save in the semi-final though, silencing his doubters.

Raphael Varane (CB) - The best of the France backline, and also of the Spanish alternatives, too. Varane is a leader in defence for his national team, He'll be key.

Aymeric Laporte (CB) - It could have been an all-French defence, but Laporte opted to represent Spain instead (which almost proved very wise at Euro 2020). Time to see which side of the fence he should have sat.

Jules Kounde (CB) -
Plying his trade in Spain but French at heart, Kounde completes this back three. Finally getting his chance at senior level.

2. Wing-Backs & Midfielders

Cesar Azpilicueta (RWB) - An experienced head and one that proved incredibly vital for Chelsea in their Champions League success. Same again for Spain, Cesar.

Paul Pogba (CM) - A match-winner when handed the right tools. Pogba will be the creative spark in France's midfield, picking the lock of the Spanish defence. He'll need to keep up with their rapid possession play, though.

Koke (CM) - An excellent midfielder for club and country, Koke has grown in stature and significance for the Furia Roja. His industry is vital to their fast approach to the game.

Theo Hernandez (LWB) - A rock and roll defender with an eye for goal, Hernandez made himself an instant hero with the injury-time winner against Belgium. Can he do it in his home at San Siro too?

Antoine Griezmann (AM) - The most advanced of the central options, Griezmann is tasked with supporting Kylian Mbappe and Karim Benzema. Who is he feeding in this combined XI, though?

3. Forwards

Karim Benzema (ST) - This guy just keeps getting better and better. Benzema can't stop scoring for Real Madrid, and he's back in form in the blue of France, too.

Kylian Mbappe (ST) - Despite scoring a brace in the semi-final, Ferran Torres has to miss out - purely because there's some guy called Mbappe. Can't argue really.
