Mauricio Pochettino is firmly in the frame to become the new manager of Chelsea after holding further talks over the vacancy, 90min understands.

The Blues are on the hunt for a new boss after parting ways with Graham Potter at the start of April. Frank Lampard has returned to Stamford Bridge on a caretaker basis until the end of the season.

Chelsea are doing their due diligence on a number of candidates and want to make sure the next appointment is not a misstep as it turned out to be with Potter.

Sources have confirmed to 90min former Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain boss Pochettino has held talks with Chelsea in recent days.

The Argentine, who was a candidate to succeed Thomas Tuchel back in September, is open to joining the Blues, though equally would be willing to discuss a return to Spurs - fans of the north London side have loudly chanted his name at their last two home games.
