Matthijs de Ligt has rubbished suggestions he is unhappy at Bayern Munich and could look to leave this summer.

Last month, reports emerged suggesting De Ligt was frustrated with his role under Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel after a spell out of the starting lineup, with Arsenal and Manchester United both touted as potential suitors for the Dutchman.

Since then, however, De Ligt has reclaimed his place as a regular starter and has insisted to Dutch media outletVoetbal International that he has no plans to leave the club in the near future.

"When I don't play, then a link is immediately made saying that I would not be happy and would want to leave," he said. "Of course there have also been matches that I would have liked to play, but I really have no reason to complain.

"I'm still having a great time at Bayern Munich and have been playing again lately. I never let rumours get to my head or drive me crazy because I know what the reality is."

He continued: "I have started ten of the last 12 matches, and I feel like I'm getting fitter and better, which is a very good feeling. I started the season with an injury and that is very annoying, of course. I needed time to come back and then I also suffered a knee injury. As a result, I mised a lot of matches and, at a club like Bayern Munich, you have to deal with a lot of competition with international players.

"There are so many top players around, all of whom are ready to play. If you are out with an injury and you get fit again, it is not just a given that you will immediately be back in the starting lineup. If the team is running and the results are good, you just have to be patient again and wait for your chance.

"From January onwards, I have been completely fit again. I feel good, I have secured my place in the team and I am showing my best."

Bayern are known to be on the hunt for a new centre-back, with Barcelona's Ronald Araujo a potential target, although the latest reports suggest they no longer see the heart of defence as a priority area.
