Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has hinted that he intends to spend his whole career at Old Trafford, which would mimic the ‘one-club’ achievements of United legends like Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Gary Neville, who never played for anyone else.

Rashford was just seven when he joined the youth ranks and went on to make his first-team debut aged 18 in 2016. He is now already closing in on 250 appearances for his boyhood club, a milestone he’ll reach this season, despite only recently turning 23.

Even though he is still at the relative beginning of his career, the home-grown star insists he has no plans to leave and would find it too weird to wear another club’s shirt.

“For me, I never look beyond Manchester United," Rashford is quoted as saying by Goal.

"As a kid I never looked beyond Manchester United. In my mind it wouldn't sit right for me to be pulling on another shirt. I just want to do my best for the club while I'm here. Long term hopefully.”

As already alluded to, Rashford has been associated with United for far longer than he has been a first-team player and he holds enormous gratitude for the opportunities he has had as a result of the club taking him under its wing from an early age.

That included helping with transport from the very start and even providing him with accommodation because his mum was struggling to support the family as a single working parent.

“I'm talking about when nobody in my family drove and I had to get to training and United had people to come and take me to the training ground and take me back home when I was six, seven, eight, nine. The times they put me into accommodation when my mum was struggling at home, when I was 11 and I was there up until 16 or 17,” Rashford explained.

“It is a lot deeper than what people see sometimes. I think people see some of the stuff that has been happening since I've been in the first team but the bond that I have with United is much greater than these last five years and it will forever be greater than probably my actual career because they are the reason I have become a footballer, they have given me the opportunity to express myself and to find out I had talent in football.”
