Manchester United Confirm Double Signing of Academy Stars

Manchester United have confirmed the signing of two new starlets at Under-18s level, plucking both from rivals Atletico Madrid and neighbours Manchester City.

The Red Devils are known for helping to develop some of the most exciting youth prospects in football, and academy graduates have played a huge part in shaping the history of the English giants.

And Man Utd have added two new faces to their ranks, announcing the double signing of forwards Alejandro Garnacho and Charlie McNeill on their website on Friday afternoon, welcoming the pair to the club's prestigious academy.

Garnacho, aged 16, has joined the Premier League side from Spanish club Atletico, where he featured predominantly for the Juvenil B side last term, although he did also appear for the Under-19s. The Spanish youngster can play as a main striker or operate on either wing, making him a flexible and exciting addition to the Man Utd youth squad.

He has arrived in England from Madrid, and having served the necessary period of self-isolation, he is now ready to join up with his new teammates and begin training.

McNeill, on the other hand, is making the short trip across Manchester to Old Trafford, leaving behind Man City's youth setup. The 17-year-old is a striker and a prolific one at his level. He has earned recognition on the international stage with England, representing the Three Lions up to Under-16 level.

Although the duo may be far from the senior side's plans, several of the new intake of scholars have been handed an opportunity to compete at a professional level. Isak Hansen, Joe Hugill and Logan Pye all featured in the EFL Trophy, testing themselves against sides from League One and Two, and strong performances in that competition could lead to a dream promotion to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's senior squad.

Youngsters will be watching Marcus Rashford's rise from academy product to superstar, and hoping they can replicate his heroics in the red of Man Utd.
