Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed Rasmus Hojlund, Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Mason Mount are in contention to face Liverpool on Sunday.

The Red Devils welcome their bitter rivals to Old Trafford in round six of the FA Cup. The winners will advance to the semi-finals at Wembley in mid-April.

Much of United's season has been hindered by various injuries and illnesses - there have now been over 50 individual cases which have ruled players out for at least one game - but they have been handed a boost ahead of the visit of Liverpool.

Star striker Hojlund, former captain Maguire and right-back Wan-Bissaka are all in line for returns, while Mount too has returned to training.

"We had a good week. The players you mention [Hojlund, Maguire and Wan-Bissaka] returned on the pitch, partly at the start of the week and today they had a session and are all training," Ten Hag revealed at his pre-match press conference on Friday.

"I think [they will be fit to play]. Tomorrow we have one session. We have to see how they recover from this but it looks good.

"Tom Heaton is back as well. Also what was very good Mason Mount trained also the whole week with us, first part of the week partly but he also had some full sessions with us, so it's looking good."

The return of Mount in particular is notable having missed four months with a calf problem. Though he could be part of the matchday squad to face Liverpool, he may be held back until after the March internationals.

Hojlund and Maguire's recoveries were expected ahead of the weekend after they were both called up for international duty.

United will, however, be without veteran defender Jonny Evans and backup goalkeeper Altay Bayindir due to minor issues sustained recently. Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia and Anthony Martial all remain unavailable.
