Talks between Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund are continuing over Jadon Sancho, with the next 48 hours crucial in determining whether a deal will be agreed.

The Red Devils have been chasing Sancho for the best part of a year, and their long-standing interest has turned into a 'will he, won't he' saga, despite personal terms and agent fees having already been sorted out.

A transfer is yet to be completed because United and Dortmund have been unable to agree a fee. 90min reported on Tuesday that United had made it clear to Dortmund that they would be willing to pay up to €100m for Sancho, but the German giants have been pushing for an extra €20m.

Talks are ongoing and United are getting closer to the €110m mark, an amount that they hope will be enough to conclude a deal. Dortmund have stood firm over their valuation throughout the summer though, and it remains to be seen whether or not they will cave in with just a few days of the transfer window remaining.

As for Sancho, he's pushing for the deal to be completed and remains hopeful that an agreement will be reached between the two clubs. Interestingly, the 20-year-old was left out of Dortmund's Bundesliga squad for the game against Freiburg on Saturday, though BVB said in a statement that Sancho and teammate Roman Burki were absentees because of non-COVID-19 respiratory infections.

If United are unable to agree terms with Dortmund, contingency plans are in place; Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele, who has been hampered by injuries since moving to Camp Nou three years ago, is on the club's radar, but only as a loan option.

Talks have already taken place between United and Barcelona, and Dembele's international teammate Paul Pogba is said to have been instrumental in persuading the 23-year-old to move to England after he had shown initial reluctance to depart Catalonia.

But any move for Dembele will be temporary, as United are determined to show a long-term commitment to signing Sancho. Watford's Ismaila Sarr, Inter's Ivan Perisic and Juventus' Douglas Costa are other potential incomings, but United's focus remains signing their number one target above all else.
