Man Utd bounced back from a disappointing Manchester derby defeat with a vital win on Saturday afternoon.

The victory came against relegation-threatened Everton at Old Trafford in the Premier League and was secured via two first-half penalties slotted home by Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford.

The Toffees put up a fight in the second half, accumulating 1.61xG worth of chances in the game, but Man Utd were able to hold on for a win and another clean sheet. The gap between the Red Devils and fourth-placed Aston Villa is now eight points, while they are six behind Tottenham in fifth.

Here's Man Utd's best and worst players from the win over Everton, according to 90min's esteemed player ratings.

Man Utd's best player vs Everton

Bruno Fernandes: 8/10

Shifted into a surprising false nine role on Saturday, Bruno Fernandes thoroughly excelled despite his lack of experience in leading an attacking line.

As well as bagging the opening goal from the spot - just his fourth in the Premier League this campaign - the Man Utd captain was extremely effective in linking up play with the wide players and consistently caused Everton's backline problems with his clever movement in the final third.

Fernandes' penalty also helped him set a new club record. The Portugal international has now netted 29 times from spot-kicks since signing from Sporting CP in January 2020 and could have made it 30 had he not offered the second chance to Rashford instead.

Erik ten Hag may have finally found answer to his striker issues when Rasmus Hojlund is out injured.

Honourable mention

Raphael Varane: 8/10

As important as Fernandes and Rashford's strikes were, Raphael Varane's goal-saving block on the stroke of half-time was just as vital.

That intervention was one of many highlights from a classy outing from Varane, who finished the game having won 100% of his duels, recovered possession five times and - most importantly - with a clean sheet to his name.

Scott McTominay: 6/10

It wasn't a particularly bad performance from Scott McTominay by any means, but it was hardly an eye-catching one either.

The Scotland international was thrown up front and played the full 90 minutes but wasn't involved too much in the final third in a largely ineffective outing.
