Manchester City's Champions League triumph which sealed a historic treble means they'll be competing in the UEFA Super Cup for the very first time.

Rodri was the hero in Istanbul as the Spaniard struck the game's only goal in June's Champions League final against Inter to wrap up an astounding campaign.

Pep Guardiola's side are now going in search of their fourth-straight Premier League title, and they'll have another chance of securing some early silverware on Wednesday night after they were beaten by Arsenal in the Community Shield.

Their upcoming opponents, perennial Europa League winners Sevilla, are participating in their seventh Super Cup but vying for just their second victory. Sevilla's sole triumph arrived in their first appearance back in 2006 when they beat Barcelona 3-0.

The La Liga outfit began 2023/24 with a defeat at home to a Valencia side that many have tipped to fight against relegation this season. City, meanwhile, coasted to a 3-0 victory at Burnley on the opening night of the Premier League campaign.

Here's 90min's preview of the 2023 UEFA Super Cup.

Man City team news

Kevin De Bruyne's injury woes continued as he was forced off in the first half of City's win over Burnley. The Belgian's expected to be sidelined for some time in order to fully recover from his hamstring problem.

Ruben Dias and John Stones are both doubts for Wednesday's game which means we could see summer arrival Josko Gvardiol make his first start for the club.

Mateo Kovacic will be expected to replace De Bruyne in midfield, with Jack Grealish also likely to come back into the side.

Sevilla team news

Loic Bade was sent off in Sevilla's defeat to Valencia in their La Liga opener, but his suspension does not carry over into UEFA competitions. Thus, the Frenchman will be expected to start in Greece.

Marcao and Tanguy Nianzou are both nursing injuries and are unlikely to feature in defence, while Bono's future at the club is in doubt with the likes of Bayern Munich interested in acquring the Moroccan international.

However, he should start against City if he's still at the club.

Man City vs Sevilla score prediction

While Guardiola will be forced to rotate his defensive pack, City's depth in their backline is pretty immense following the arrival of Gvardiol. It may take some time for the newbie to settle in City's high line, and Sevilla do boast a couple of outlets - as well as the technicians in midfield to release them -capable of exploiting the space Guardiola's side surrender in behind.

However, will Sevilla be able to fashion enough moments in transition to trouble the Premier League side?

While José Luis Mendilibar worked wonders last season to oversee an upsurge, this is far from a stellar Sevilla side and City's staggering quality should prevail in Greece on Sunday. You shouldn't expect a classic, but for Guardiola's side to get the job done.

Prediction: Man City 1-0 Sevilla
