GK: Ederson - Concerns over Ederson's shot stopping have surfaced in recent weeks but there is little doubt that he is among the game's finest goalkeepers.

RB: Manuel Akanji - Limited options in defence may force Akanji to shift out to right-back against his former employers.

CB: Ruben Dias - Dias will need to be at his best to keep out a Dortmund attack that has bagged nine goals in four European outings this season.

CB: Nathan Ake - Arguably the standout performer in City's defence this year, Ake deserves to start a game of this magnitude.

LB: Joao Cancelo - Sergio Gomez is suspended so Cancelo will be needed to shift out to the left once again.

DM: Rodri - Rodri's task will be to keep an eye on Jude Bellingham, who has taken his game to a new level this season.

CM: Ilkay Gundogan - Gundogan was kept on the bench during the recent victory over Brighton, suggesting Guardiola plans to rely on him here.

CM: Kevin De Bruyne - When De Bruyne is fit, he plays. It's simple.

RW: Bernardo Silva - Silva has been used primarily as a midfielder this season but he will likely shift out to the wing here.

ST: Erling Haaland - One of four former Dortmund players in the City squad, Haaland will have to be on top of his game to see off his former teammates.

LW: Phil Foden - Foden's long-term future appears to be in central midfield but Guardiola has shown no signs of moving him away from the wing just yet.
