Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has joined up with the England squad ahead of their upcoming friendlies against Brazil and Belgium, despite being ruled out with a muscle injury.

The 28-year-old has missed out on United's last six matches due to a muscle injury, but will continue his individual rehabilitation plans at the Three Lions' training base at St George's Park.

Shaw's injury caused him to miss out on a call-up to the England squad and it is thought he will not join any training sessions with his teammates.

The defender has struggled with injuries all season and suffered a fresh setback in February during the team's win over Luton Town. He's made just 15 appearances for United in all competitions this season and it is not yet known when he will next be available for Erik ten Hag's squad.

However, there is hope that Shaw will travel to with England in the summer to compete at Euro 2024 in Germany. He is set to work on his recovery and fitness at St George's Park, with the hopes of returning to the field as soon as possible.

With England's first Euro 2024 group game against Serbia kicking off on June 16, Shaw will have almost a full month to prepare after United's final Premier League match on May 19 against Brighton & Hove Albion.

United could also feature in the FA Cup final on May 25 if they beat Coventry City in the upcoming semi-final.

If Shaw is able to return to fitness, he will almost certainly guarantee his place in Gareth Southgate's squad given he is the England boss' first choice. Chelsea's Ben Chilwell is the only natural left-back named in the March squad.
