First will meet second in the Premier League on Sunday when Liverpool and Manchester City renew their modern rivalry.

Having scored 15 goals in six games, Liverpool boast the competition's scariest forward line, but they'll need to be at their best if they are to find a way through a City side whose total of one goal conceded is the best in the league.

We might be just seven games into the season, but this feels like it could be a huge fixture in the long run, and here's everything you need to know about it.

Liverpool will be without right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, who remains sidelined with the muscle injury that kept him out of the win over Porto, so expect another appearance from the indefatigable James Milner at the back.

Fortunately, there are no fresh concerns for Jurgen Klopp, who continues to be without Thiago Alcantara (calf) and Harvey Elliott (ankle) in midfield.

Similarly, Pep Guardiola has not been forced to deal with any surprises in his squad. Ilkay Gundogan is not expected to return from his groin strain before the international break, while left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko continues to deal with an injury of his own.

Guardiola could make a handful of changes to the side that fell to PSG in midweek, with Phil Foden and Gabriel Jesus likely to return to the starting lineup.

Liverpool vs Man City head-to-head record

Over the past few years, it's City who have had the upper hand in the meetings between these two sides.

2020/21 yielded a 4-1 win and a 1-1 draw, and City also put four past Liverpool when the two sides met in July 2020, after Liverpool had already been crowned Premier League champions.

Liverpool did secure a 3-1 win in the game before that, but that's their only victory in their last seven games against City.

When the league's best attack meets its finest defence, it's always tough to predict who's going to come out on top.

Liverpool have form on their side (Brentford draw aside), but City can still switch on the flair at the drop of a hat. You only have to ask Chelsea how devastating Guardiola's men can be when they're at their best.

Both sides are missing some key players, and there really isn't a lot to separate them.

Prediction: Liverpool 1-1 Man City
