Liverpool have confirmed Fabio Carvalho will return to the club after terminating his loan spell at RB Leipzig.

The Portugal youth international was sent out on loan after a quiet debut season at Anfield following his arrival from Fulham, joining Bundesliga side Leipzig for the 2023/24 campaign.

But the Reds have decided to cut short this deal and Carvalho will return to Merseyside.

A statement from Liverpool read: "Fabio Carvalho has returned to Liverpool from his loan spell with RB Leipzig.

"The attacker comes back to the Reds having spent the first half of 2023/24 in the Bundesliga and made 15 appearances for Die Roten Bullen, whom he had initially joined on a season-long deal.

"Carvalho arrived at Anfield in the summer of 2022 and has featured 21 times under Jurgen Klopp to date, scoring three goals."

90min revealed earlier this month that Liverpool were planning to recall Carvalho due to his limited game time at Leipzig. He is set to rejoin first-team training and the Reds will then decide whether he should leave on loan again.

Carvalho himself pushed to leave Liverpool on loan during the summer, with the club initially planning to keep him for the entirety of the season instead. Liverpool eventually granted Carvalho his wish but this spell in Germany will not have gone down well with staff.

Since the start of October, Carvalho logged a measly 39 minutes for Leipzig in the Bundesliga. Across the entire season, he played just 360 minutes across all competitions.
