A cornerstone of Leicester City's surprise success this season have been the impressive performances of their wingers.

The direct running of Harvey Barnes and the guile of Ayoze Perez have been a joy to watch this season. There does however, remain a feeling that if Leicester want to make their dreams of becoming an established top six club a reality, they require further strenghtening out wide.

Outside of the starting XI, Marc Albrighton has no more than a nominal role to play next season and Demarai Gray may have run out of chances all together after another dismal campaign.

So, who should Brendan Rodgers be targeting to bolster the Foxes' ranks? Below 90min has suggested some options.

Ryan Fraser

With his contract set to expire at the end of the season, competition for Ryan Fraser's signature will be fierce but it's easy to see how he would fit in at the King Power Stadium.

Leicester's wingers tend to hug the touchline which would suit the flying Scotsman down to a tee. He racked up a remarkable 14 assists in the Premier League last season operating in a similar role - though he has come nowhere near to replicating those number this time around.

Fraser has looked out of sorts this campaign, laying on just four goals and generally looking jaded.

If he can be snapped up on a low risk free transfer, this needn't be too much of a worry. If the Cherries manage to tie him down to the big money deal they were planning in back in September the Foxes should focus their attentions elsewhere.

Emiliano Buendia

Emiliano Buenida has been the standout performer for Premier League basement dwellers Norwich this season.

The Argentine has carried on from where he left off last campaign, registering seven assists while operating primarily in a wide midfield berth.

No player in his position has made more tackles this season, suggesting that he would be well suited to Leicester's high press, though his tendency to drift inside could limit his effectiveness in Leicester's system.

Ayoze Perez has had to have similar traits coached out of him to ensure that James Maddison has enough space to weave his magic just behind the striker.

Ismail Jakobs

Unlike the opening two entries on this list, Ismail Jakobs is an unproven commodity in the Premier League.

The 20-year-old has burst into the FC Koln first team this season and helped the Billy Goats pull away from the relegation places following their promotion to the Bundesliga last season.

Capable of operating anywhere down the left hand side Jakobs would also provide cover for Ben Chilwell at full-back, whose future remains uncertain.

Talks between the two clubs have already begun and Leicester's fantastic record of recruiting young players from the continent should get fans very excited about what the German could offer.

Oussama Idrissi

Premier League clubs' record of recruiting from the Eredivisie is mixed to say the least. For every Robin van Persie and Luis Suarez, there's an Afonso Alves or a Vincent Jansen - and that's just the strikers.

The latest Dutch top flight name to be attracting attention is left winger Oussama Idrissi who has hit a combined 27 goals and assists for surprise title challengers AZ Alkmaar this season. Sensational.

Doubts over his suitability for a move to Leicester mainly focus around his defensive shortcomings as he would be expected to perform a considerably more conservative role in Rodgers' system than he has for his current side.

Also, the last time a Premier League side spent big on an AZ winger was when Brighton splashed a club record fee on Alireza Jahanbakhsh. The Iranian has struggled to justify his price tag since. Should Leicester be worried about history repeating itself?

Tetê

By far the most expensive option on this list, Leicester would likely have to part with as much as €70m (£61m) to land Shakhtar Donetsk star Tetê in the summer.

The 20-year-old Brazilian has been touted as the next Douglas Costa - by one YouTube compilation anyway - but has so far shown very little make us believe the hype.

The winger has racked up a combined eight goals and assists in the Ukrainian League this season, also netting once in the Champions League.

Probably not enough to justify such a ridiculous transfer fee - particularly in the current economic climate. Still, if he really is the next Douglas Costa, perhaps the Foxes could be tempted.
