Leah Williamson has pledged that Arsenal will bounce back from their defeat to Lyon - a game that was marred by a serious injury suffered by Vivianne Miedema - when they take on Zurich on Wednesday evening.

The Gunners are already assured of their Champions League quarter final place, but can top the group ahead of European champions Lyon with victory in Zurich.

Arsenal were beaten in their penultimate group stage fixture by Lyon last time out; a fixture that also saw Miedema stretchered off in tears on the stroke of half time. It was announced on Monday that the Arsenal forward is set for an extended spell on the sidelines with an ACL rupture.

The defeat was just Arsenal's second of the season, following November's WSL loss to Manchester United. The Gunners bounced back from said defeat with an important four points from six against Juventus, and by taking maximum points from league matches against Everton and Aston Villa.

"I think you've seen in the game, after something like that [Miedema's injury] happens in a game, it does turn a little bit flat as well and I think that's how we felt when we came off," Williamson said.

"But ultimately we played some good football, it was an interesting game like I said and we've just gone straight back to the training pitch, everyone's been recovering like we have every other game except this one is [especially] important for us to win.

"You've seen the way we've bounced back after the defeat to Man Utd in the league, it's the same in this competition as well. We intend to leave nothing out there."
