Juventus host defending champions Inter in the latest Derby d'Italia on Sunday night in Serie A.

Both teams bowed out of the Champions League at the round of 16 but Juventus - who were turned over by Spain's seventh-placed Villarreal - are Italy's form side.

Over the past nine Serie A games, Inter have collected ten fewer points than the Bianconeri, slumping to third in the table. A win for Juve this weekend would see the Old Lady leapfrog the current Scudetto holders.

Massimiliano Allegri will be without both Weston McKennie and Federico Chiesa for the remainder of the season. The young Brazilian Kaio Jorge is also doubtful of making many more appearances this term with a tendon injury while Luca Pellegrini is suspended.

Winter arrival Denis Zakaria, however, could return to the fold after a remarkably swift recovery from a groin injury. The rangy midfielder was fit enough to feature in a training ground friendly the Wednesday before the game.

Left-back Alex Sandro has only recently recovered from injury while Dusan Vlahovic is expected to feature after overcoming a fitness scare during the recent hiatus.

Inter team news

Inter have been burned before by their wealth of internationals following a club break. However, Simone Inzaghi is expected to have a full squad to select from this weekend.

Marcelo Brozovic missed Inter's previous two matches and sat out Croatia's international friendlies but is thought to have shaken off a nagging calf injury. Stefan de Vrij has also been working on a personalised training regime to return for this weekend while Lautaro Martinez has recovered from a positive COVID-19 case.

Juventus vs Inter score prediction

Inter have the healthiest underlying numbers of any side in Serie A, creating a wealth of opportunities each game while relying upon the stable rearguard Antonio Conte created.

However, the Nerazzurri have fallen flat against their closest challengers; dropping points in seven of their nine outings against the other clubs in Serie A's top six - including at home to Juve.

Allegri's side may be unbeaten in the league since November but have rarely convinced in a sequence peppered with plenty of draws. If Inter can turn the contest into a slugging match, Juve have far less to offer than the reigning champions.

Prediction: Juventus 1-2 Inter
