FROM GTECH COMMUNITY STADIUM - Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp revealed Brentford striker and Reds fan Ivan Toney wished him the best of luck ahead of his departure from Anfield.

Klopp's Liverpool ran out 4-1 winners at the Gtech Community Stadium in the Premier League's early kick-off on Saturday - their first victory away at the Bees since their 2021 promotion.

Goals from Darwin Nunez, Alexis Mac Allister, Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo helped the visitors to victory, while Toney scored the hosts' consolation 15 minutes from time.

Klopp was spotted chatting to Toney after the full-time whistle, and the German was asked what they spoke about in his post-match press conference.

"It was more like smiling at him, he's a handful and really tricky - I used a different word but it's really tricky to play against him obviously!" Klopp said.

"Am I right that he's a Liverpool supporter? He's not shy to say that? Then I can admit it as well. We spoke a little bit about that and he wished me good luck for my time after these things here. A lot of players said it. It was a nice conversation. I had one with [Vitaly] Janelt as well."

Klopp is known to be on good terms with Brentford head coach Thomas Frank and he went on to praise Brentford's setup both on and off the pitch.

"That's the strange thing in football, this is probably one of the nicest teams, the coaching staff you face, everything when you play against them, you want to knock them down every five seconds because it's just annoying," Klopp added.

"It's like that because everything is set up to make you really look rubbish, but around that it's a great club. I like everything about it, just not playing them."
