Jurgen Klopp has been ruled out out of the running to become Germany head coach any time soon following a plea from the country's media for him to replace Hansi Flick.

Germany suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Colombia earlier this week, making it two losses in a matter of days after also being beaten by Poland.

Die Mannschaft are now four games without a win - their last victory was against Peru in March - while they have won only three of their last 11 games. That dreadful run of form covers a group stage exit at the 2022 World Cup for the second successive tournament.

With expectations on Germany to do well as hosts at Euro 2024 next summer, it has put considerable pressure on former Bayern Munich coach Flick to turn things around. The 58-year-old was hired to replace long-serving boss Joachim Low in 2021 and could face the sack without swift improvement.

Klopp is the most high profile German coach in world football and an obvious contender for the national team job as a result - he has even admitted interest in the role in the past. Crucially, however, his commitment to Liverpool has never waned and that still appears to be the case.

After Bild's plea for the DFB to cut ties with Flick and do everything possible to land Klopp, his agent has fielded questions from the media to clarify the situation.

"Jurgen has a long-term contract with Liverpool and the DFB has a coach. This is not a topic for us at all," Marc Kosicke told reporter Christian Falk.

Never say never, just not now, it seems the case may be.
