Julian Alvarez has been offered a new contract by Manchester City but is unsure if he will get the playing time he wants at the Etihad Stadium, 90min understands.

Alavrez has had to play second fiddle to Erling Haaland for the majority of the 2022/23 season, despite Alvarez's impressive performance both for Argentina at the FIFA World Cup and with City when given a chance to play at club level.

To date, Alvarez has made just six Premier League starts since his summer move from River Plate, but has still managed five goals in his 707 minutes of league football in City colours.

Despite the lack of game time, The 23-year-old has impressed so much that 90min understands, City have offered him a new five-year deal with a significanlty improved financial package.

However, sources have confirmed to 90min that Alvarez, is unhappy with his current game time and does not envisage himself getting more minutes in the immediate future.

This has led to Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain all taking an interest in the player's situation, but 90min understands that Manchester City have no intention of letting one of their prized young assets leave the club. They do, however, want him to be happy which has influenced the decision to offer a new contract when his existing deal runs until 2027.

Alvarez will be hoping to get a second FA Cup start of the season in City's fifth round clash with Championship side Bristol City on Wednesday evening.
