Barcelona forward Joao Felix has claimed "everything is easier" with his new teammates following a loan move from Atletico Madrid on transfer deadline day.

Felix made his debut as a substitute against Osasuna prior to the international break, before being handed his first start on Saturday when Real Betis arrived at the Lluis Companys in Montjuic, Barca's temporary home for the 2023/24 season.

The Portugal international, who has declared his preference to play on the left wing, scored his first Barca goal in the 5-0 win. He opening the scoring midway through the first half, with compatriot and fellow new arrival Joao Cancelo rounding things off near the end.

Xavi praised the immediate impact of both players following the match.

"We are talking about two footballers who, at the level of individual quality, are beyond doubt. You watch them train and you see their greatness," the coach said.

Felix expressed his feelings about the positive setup he has arrived into.

"I am working to be at the best level. There is a very good environment here, I am one more to help and with these players everything is easier," he said, via Mundo Deportivo.

"The change has been good for me, I am very happy and I hope to help the team as much as I can."

Barca do not have an option to make the deals for either Felix or Cancelo permanent beyond this season, which was confirmed by Deco last when the club’s new sporting structure was revealed.

Should Barca wish to keep either player into 2024/25, it will require a fresh set of transfer negotiations with Atletico Madrid or Manchester City respectively. The potential fees could well be determined by how either performs on loan and whether there is other rival interest.
