There are no fresh injury concerns for Roberto Mancini, whose only absentee is star left-back Leonardo Spinazzola. Covering for the injured Roma man will be Chelsea's Emerson, who enjoyed an impressive re-emergence against Spain.

With Federico Chiesa now the undisputed starter on the right wing, expect very few changes from Mancini.

England team news

Phil Foden has a minor injury which makes him a doubt, as confirmed by his manager on Saturday night. But that's the only issue England have to contend with and Foden hasn't been starting in recent fixtures anyway. The main uncertainty ahead of this one has to do with which formation Gareth Southgate will opt for.

Italy's strength lies in their midfield, so Southgate may decide to steer away from his trusty 4-2-3-1 and put an extra body in there to try and match up - or he could pin Mason Mount on Chelsea teammate Jorginho.

Italy and England have met no fewer than 27 times in the past, and recently, it's been Italy who have come out on top most often.

The Azzurri have won 11 of those 27, including back at Euro 2012 and the 2014 World Cup. England's last win came in a friendly in 2012, but they haven't won a competitive game against Italy since a 2-0 victory back in 1977.

Their last meeting came in 2018, when a late Lorenzo Insigne penalty secured a 1-1 draw in a friendly.

Is it coming home?

Before the semi-final, Italy were the overwhelming favourites for this match, and if we're being honest, they probably still are, but they looked mortal against Spain and are fortunate to even be in the final. Victory is not as certain as it looked just a few days ago.

England will have seen a way to beat Italy, but whether they can actually pull that off is another matter. They've never beaten an opponent this strong on such a big stage, and if Italy turn up, they'll likely have too much for England.

Prediction: Italy 2-1 England
