Scott McTominay's stoppage-time heroics gifted Erik ten Hag and his Manchester United side some respite heading into the international break.

The troubled Red Devils looked for all money to succumb to yet another home defeat at the weekend when Brentford held a 1-0 lead going into the dying embers of the contest. United were once again insipid in attack and let down by a woeful defensive sequence, but a couple of favourable bounces ensured McTominay not only rescued a point for the hosts, but snatched an unlikely victory.

The October break means United supporters have two weeks until their misery continues, although their last-gasp ventures against the Bees will inspire hope for a resurgence.

Nevertheless, here's where United's internationals are off to in October and how to keep an eye on them.

Marcus Rashford's indifferent start to the season hasn't cost him a place in Gareth Southgate's England squad, and he's once again joined by Harry Maguire. The defender has remained a part of Southgate's plans despite his minimal role with Erik ten Hag's Red Devils.

Victory over Italy will all but seal their place at Euro 2024.

Fellow Brits Jonny Evans, a Northern Irish centurion, and McTominay, so often an impressive performer for Scotland, have a couple of significant encounters upcoming for their respective nations.

Christian Eriksen sits alongside Evans as the only two United players to notch at least 100 caps for their country. Eriksen will be looking to set up the prolific Rasmus Hojlund in Denmark's upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers, while Bruno Fernandes' and Diogo Dalot's Portugal will be looking to book their place in Germany next summer.

Victor Lindelof's Sweden have plenty of work to do if they're to qualify for the upcoming major tournament.

Across the globe, Alejandro Garancho's Argentina, Casemiro's Brazil, and Facundo Pellistri's Uruguay each have two 2026 World Cup qualifiers during the upcoming break. United's African representatives, Hannibal Mejbri and Sofyan Amrabat, have a couple of friendlies to enjoy.
