For any football supporter, being able to view a World Cup contest - no matter the two nations competing - in the flesh is a bucket list-worthy experience.

The unprecedented nature of the upcoming tournament may well give further incentive for football fanatics to take a chunk out of their savings in a bid to visit the unfamiliar football environment that is the Middle East.


It's easy to see why hundreds of thousands of fans have already been enticed by the Qatari World Cup. The weather's bound to be hot (maybe too hot, as Jay Cartwright would most definitely say if he landed in Doha), and the football's set to be thrilling.

And while the tournament is fast-approaching, tickets are still available for supporters to buy.

How much are 2022 World Cup tickets in Qatar?

Individual match tickets for games at the 2022 World Cup are divided into four categories which determine the price. Accessibility tickets are also available.

All tickets are sold in Qatari riyal, while Category 4 tickets are reserved exclusively for Qatari residents.

How can I apply for tickets?

Fans can purchase tickets for the World Cup via the official FIFA website. The opening sales phase closed back in March during which over 800,000 tickets were sold.

The second phase of ticket purchasing has also since opened and closed, with supporters having one final chance to buy tickets for the World Cup via the Last Minute Sales Phase.

These tickets will be available right up until the end of the tournament, but supporters will be subject to lengthy queues when attempting to purchase due to the demand.

When did World Cup tickets go on sale?

Sales Phase 1 started on 19 January 2022 and ended on 29 March. Sales Phase 2 opened with a Random Selection Draw on 5 April and closed on 28 April. This was then followed by a First Come First Served sales period that started on 5 July and finished on 16 August.

We've now entered the Last Minute Sales Phase, which started on 27 September. During this sales period, tickets will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

How much are 2022 World Cup final tickets?

As expected, 2022 World Cup final tickets do not come cheap.

For Qatari residents, tickets can be purchased for 750 Qatari riyal (approximately £182). Category 3 tickets (the cheapest for overseas fans) currently cost approximately £534, Category 2 tickets are priced at just shy of £886, while the most expensive World Cup final tickets can be purchased for £1,420.

Where is the 2022 World Cup final?

The 2022 World Cup final will take place at the Lusail Iconic Stadium just outside Doha. The newly-built footballing theatre boasts a capacity of 80,000 and will host ten matches during the tournament.

The final kicks off at 15:00 (BST) on Sunday 18 December.
