Dear lord, what a sad little life, Jurgen Klopp. You ruined Manchester United's season, completely.

Thanks to comments from Klopp - and more recently, a bit of work from Chelsea's official website - it is officially illegal to award penalties to the Red Devils, entirely derailing the season for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men and zapping all fun out of the beautiful game we know and love.

Because if there's one thing United fans love more than Marcus Rashford, it's penalties.

The 2019/20 season saw United awarded a nose bleed-inducing number of spot kicks which sent the fans of just about every other club in existence into a complete frenzy. The Red Devils haven't been as fortunate so far in the 2020/21 campaign, but there are still enough to look over them all again.

Here's how Penchester Penited are getting on from 12 yards in 2020/21.

1. Luton Town 0-3 Manchester United (22/9/20)

Brandon Williams was brought down when trying to advance inside the box as United breezed past Luton in the Carabao Cup third round.

Was it a penalty? Absolutely.

Significance of penalty: Gave United the lead in a tight game; the scoreline flattered them somewhat in the end.

2. Brighton 2-3 Manchester United (26/9/20)

In true United fashion, the Red Devils were awarded a penalty thanks to VAR after the full-time whistle had already been blown, when Neal Maupay raised his arm and hit the ball following a Harry Maguire header.

Was it a penalty? Handball was committed before the full-time whistle, so yes.

Significance of penalty: Gave United all three points beyond the death.

3. Manchester United 1-6 Tottenham (4/10/20)

Davinson Sanchez puts in a clumsy challenge on Anthony Martial who was too quick and taken down as a result.

Was it a penalty? Stonewall.

Significance of penalty: Judging by the scoreline, it was literally the only positive for United that day. The less said the better.

4. Newcastle 1-4 Manchester United (4/10/20)

The comeback kings by this point, Rashford was 'pushed' to the ground with United in search of the lead at St. James' Park, with VAR helping to award a penalty.

Was it a penalty? No, it was a very soft one.

Significance of penalty: Karl Darlow saved, but United won regardless.

5. Paris Saint-Germain 1-2 Manchester United (20/10/20)

Abdou Diallo came through the back of Martial which saw the Red Devils awarded a penalty early on in their opening Champions League group stage fixture.

Was it a penalty? Absolutely; Diallo gets none of the ball.

Significance of penalty: Gave United the lead, but they still had to score late for the win.

6. Manchester United 5-0 RB Leipzig (28/10/20)

Martial won a second penalty in as many games in the Champions League as he was hacked down late on by Marcel Sabitzer.

Was it a penalty? Stonewall.

Significance of penalty: A misery compiler.

7. Manchester United 1-0 West Brom (21/11/20)

West Brom had a penalty harshly chalked off by VAR as United were awarded one for a handball later on. Sam Johnstone saved, but the penalty was retaken as he was adjudged to have been off his line the first time.

Was it a penalty? Yes - Darnell Furlong's hand is outstretched.

Significance of penalty: Bailed out United and handed them a fortunate three points; harsh one for the Baggies to take.

8. Manchester United 4-1 Istanbul Basaksehir (24/11/20)

Rashford was bundled over on the counter attack in search for a third and earned United a penalty in a game they had dominated from the first whistle. Champions League nights and penalties, eh?

Was it a penalty? Soft, but yes.

Significance of penalty: Gave Bruno Fernandes his hat-trick and killed off any hope of a Basaksehir comeback.

9. RB Leipzig 3-2 Manchester United (8/12/20)

Ibrahima Konate barged into Mason Greenwood which gave United a late consolation in a disappointing defeat that was ultimately the catalyst for them dropping out of the Champions League.

Was it a penalty? Absolutely.

Significance of penalty: Spurred a late comeback but the damage was already done.

10. Manchester United 6-2 Leeds (20/12/20)

The Red Devils ran riot over long time rivals Leeds to give fans an early Christmas present, with Martial stumbling over Pascal Struijk's trailing leg to allow Fernandes to add a sixth for United.

Was it a penalty? Always.

Significance of penalty: Misery compiler; stat padding for Fernandes.

11. Manchester United 2-1 Aston Villa (1/1/21)

Welcoming in the New Year the United way; Paul Pogba winning a late penalty for his side, having been invited down by Douglas Luiz.

Was it a penalty? Yes, Luiz is all over the Frenchman.

Significance of penalty: Handed United a win and sent them level on points with Liverpool (they were good at the time).

12. Manchester United 9-0 Southampton (2/2/21)

A month wait for the next penalty? Farcical.

United couldn't storm to a 9-0 win without a penalty; Jan Bednarek was sent off for...pulling out of a challenge on Martial?

Was it a penalty? No chance.

Significance of penalty: Added insult to injury for an already battered Southampton.

13. Manchester United 3-1 Newcastle (21/2/20)

With United ahead, Rashford feels contact in the box having rolled the ball beyond Joe Willock and goes down to win a spot kick.

Was it a penalty? No; very soft.

Significance of penalty: Put the game to bed for United, but they were already ahead.
