New Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo is keen to meet with unsettled striker Harry Kane after Euro 2020 but before the England captain goes on a summer holiday.

Nuno was appointed by Spurs as a permanent successor to Jose Mourinho this week, having previously been in talks with Crystal Palace and Everton since leaving Wolves in May, and his first big task will be to convince Kane that this new chapter can deliver the success the player craves.

Frustrated by an inability to challenge for major trophies since reaching the 2019 Champions League final, Kane informed Spurs in the final week of last season that he wants to leave the club.

According to ESPN, the Portuguese coach wants to hold talks with Kane to address matter before the player goes on a summer break. He is still currently with England at Euro 2020 and has so far outright refused to discuss his club future until the tournament is over.

The new boss wants to share with Kane his vision for the team, as well as potential transfer targets, seemingly in the hope he can persuade and reassure the 27-year-old that Spurs can compete.

Timing is key because if England reach the final on 11 July and Nuno is doesn't speak with Kane immediately afterwards, it could end up being early August by the time the player returns for club duty. That would leave a dark shadow hanging over vital preparations for the new season.

It was reported earlier this week that Nuno has been reassured that Kane will not be sold without his knowledge. Equally, if Nuno advises the club hierarchy that Kane should be sold in order to raise cash to spend on a squad rebuild then he will be allowed to leave - even though chairman Daniel Levy is determined to keep him in north London for at least another year.

Manchester City and Chelsea have been heavily linked with a summer approach for Kane as both clubs are in the market for a new striker. But with Spurs keen not to sell to a rival Premier League side, Paris Saint-Germain are also a possible destination that Kane would be open to.

Moving to Paris would also mean reuniting with ex-Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.
