Harry Kane has called on his Tottenham teammates to be more clinical after they were beaten 1-0 by Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday.

Spurs missed the chance to open up a seven-point gap on fifth-place Newcastle after they had lost at Manchester City earlier in the day.

Despite controlling possession and creating more chances at Molineux, Spurs were undone by a late goal by long-term transfer target Adama Traore, condemning them to a second 1-0 defeat on the road this week.

Speaking to club media, Kane praised Tottenham's efforts but couldn't hide his frustration at such a loss.

"I thought we controlled the game for large spells but weren’t really clinical enough in their final third," Kane said.

"Whether it’s the final finish, the pass or the cross we just weren’t clinical enough. At this level you get punished and that’s what happened towards the end of the game.

"You can’t fault the effort of the lads, you can’t fault the way we played. But if you want to be fighting at the top of the table you need to be clinical in different moments.

"Not just with the finish but with the final pass, when you’re three-v-two, scenarios like that. We just need to get better in those moments.

"When Premier League games are 0-0, you can always get caught and we did."

Tottenham have the chance to bounce back when they take on Milan in the second leg of their Champions League last 16 tie on Wednesday night, with Antonio Conte set to return to the dugout following gallbladder surgery.
