Welsh winger Gareth Bale was forced to miss Real Madrid training on Monday after complaining of muscle pains following his side's 3-1 win over Eibar on Sunday.

Introduced to the game shortly after the hour mark with Madrid already well ahead, Bale failed to make any real impact in what was his 250th appearance for the club.

AS go as far as to say the Welshman looked 'bored' and 'detached' during the game, but that apparent disinterest didn't stop Bale from picking up a fresh muscle injury which forced him to sit out Real's training session on Monday.

Medical staff believe that Bale's muscles are simply overloaded - a problem which kept him out of several training sessions before La Liga's return - and there is hope that he will be able to return on Tuesday.

It speaks volumes of Bale's recent fitness struggles that muscle fatigue has already set in. The 30-year-old Wales star, who has started just 11 times in La Liga in 2019/20, featured for just half an hour on Sunday, but his body already appears to be struggling to cope with the demands of Madrid's schedule.

Zinedine Zidane's side will return to action on Thursday when Valencia visit the Estadio Alfredo Di Stéfano, and with Lucas Vázquez, Luka Jović and Mariano Díaz, the boss will be eager to have Bale back to give him another option in attack.

Madrid also trained without right-back Dani Carvajal, who twisted his ankle during the first half of the Eibar game, but winger Eden Hazard managed to shake off a knock to make it back to training.

First-half goals from Toni Kroos, Sergio Ramos and Marcelo were enough to fire Real to victory and keep them in the race for the La Liga title.

Los Blancos remain one point behind Barcelona, who will again have the chance to temporarily extend their lead when they face Leganés on Tuesday.
