Barcelona have confirmed Frenkie de Jong and Sergi Roberto will both miss Friday's clash with Sevilla with injuries.

The reigning Spanish champions have returned to La Liga action in emphatic fashion, taking maximum points, scoring six goals and keeping two clean sheets in their opening two games against relegation threatened Mallorca and Leganes.

However, they face one of the toughest remaining tests in their bid to retain their La Liga title, with a trip to third place Sevilla on Friday.

Barcelona will be without De Jong and Roberto for the match, after the club confirmed on their official website that the pair were unavailable due to injury.

Midfielder De Jong has suffered a strain to his right calf muscle, while Roberto is sidelined with a rib fracture. The pair missed training on Thursday and Barcelona gave no time scale for their return, stating that 'the evolution of each injury will condition their availability'.

Manager Quique Setién announced the full 23-man squad for the Sevilla encounter, with Samuel Umtiti also missing out. The defender has been sidelined since May with a calf strain.

De Jong started Barcelona's first game back after the three-month coronavirus enforced break - a 4-0 victory over Mallorca - but was an unused substitute for Tuesday's 2-0 win against Leganes.

Roberto had started both of Barcelona's following La Liga's restart, but is yet to play a full 90 minutes.

Barcelona currently top La Liga by five points, but rivals Real Madrid have a game in hand. Zinedine Zidane's side can reduce Barcelona's lead at the summit of La Liga to two points once more when they face Valencia on Thursday evening.

Barcelona's full squad for Sevilla match: Ter Stegen, N. Semedo, Piqué, I. Rakitic, Sergio, Arthur, Suárez, Messi, Neto, Lenglet, Griezmann, Jordi Alba, Braithwaite, Vidal, Junior, Iñaki Peña, Riqui Puig, Collado, Ansu Fati, R. Araujo, Saverio, Chumi and Monchu.
