Erling Haaland remains a captaincy doubt for yet another week with the groin injury that kept him out of Manchester City’s 4-1 victory over Liverpool last weekend.

So who are the top captain picks heading into FPL Gameweek 30?

Marcus Rashford vs Everton (H)

Marcus Rashford’s sensational home form continued midweek and he’s now scored in seven of his last eight Premier League appearances at Old Trafford, amassing seven goals and two assists in FPL.

While Casemiro’s suspension has hindered Manchester United defensively, we’ve still seen plenty of quality going forward, with Rashford having four big chances in his last four games.

Everton have improved their performances in recent weeks under Sean Dyche but there’s still a lot more to be done, with draws against Spurs, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest in recent games. They’ve conceded 11 goals in the last five gameweeks, with eight of those conceded on the road. The Hub algorithm predicts 7.5 points for Rashford this weekend.

Ollie Watkins vs Nottingham Forest (H)

Ollie Watkins has been among the top form players in FPL over the last few gameweeks thanks to an incredible run. He’s blanked just once in his last ten Premier League games, amassing eight goals and two assists in that time, leading the way for shots on target (18) and big chances (12) also.

Villa are unbeaten in their last six league games, while opponents Nottingham Forest are without a win or a clean sheet in their last eight, with manager Steve Cooper coming under pressure once again.

Watkins looks like a good bet to continue his hot streak given all of these variables. The Hub algorithm predicts 6.9 points for Watkins this weekend.

Erling Haaland vs Southampton (A)

There’s no denying Manchester City’s Champions League quarter final first leg on Tuesday evening will be high on Pep Guardiola’s priority list right now.

However, with the club's social media sharing pictures of Erling Haaland back in training on Wednesday, his form this season makes him a standout contender for captaincy once again this week for the trip to Southampton.

Haaland scored in the reverse fixture which ended 4-0. Having not played for almost three weeks, it will be important for Haaland to get some good minutes in this game so he should start, but he could be hooked early on and is unlikely to play the full 90.

We know the risks, but even from the bench Haaland can deliver and he’s on penalties. We need to weigh up the options, but he’s certainly high on the captain picks for this week. Personally, I won’t be going there though, favouring both Rashford and Watkins with the gametime security, fitness and favourable home games.

Given his injury status, the Hub algorithm predicts 5.5 points for Haaland this weekend.
