We're firmly in crunch-time in the Premier League, which means FPL managers are scrapping to find those all important differentials before the end of the season.

One of the best avenues to check for hidden gems is among the defenders, with plenty of stars at the back offering set-piece goal threat, creativity out wide or the straight promise of clean sheets.

Here are the top FPL assets in defence you could target in FPL Gameweek 30.

Ethan Pinnock (£4.4m)

Brentford defender Ethan Pinnock had been threatening a goal involvement before his strike in the 3-3 draw with Brighton.

The Bees can mix it up and their set piece threat is a cornerstone of their attack - only Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal have scored more from dead-ball situations.

Having Pinnock in your team as an additional goal threat against Newcastle could prove rewarding.

Ben White (£4.8m)

Arsenal's title credentials face a stern test on Sunday when they visit Liverpool. Can the Gunners put a poor recent record at Anfield aside to claim another win which will inch them closer to the league title?

Ben White is one player who'll need to display plenty of grit and determination in defence. But with 39 FPL points in his last six games, the England international is a must-have asset for the run-in.

Ricardo Pereira (£4.3m)

A more rogue shout is Leicester full back Ricardo Pereira. The Foxes recently parted company with Brendan Rodgers but have the perfect opportunity to get back on the horse against Bournemouth, a fellow side in the relegation scrap.

Pereira is known for his attacking intent and has managed a goal and an assist in his last four league games.

Lisandro Martinez (£4.5m)

Lisandro Martinez isn't a massive goal threat from set pieces for Manchester United but was the recipient of three bonus points for his display against Brentford in midweek.

The Argentine World Cup winner is a regular in the United backline and upcoming games against Everton and Nottingham Forest shouldn't present too many issues.
