Midfield can often be where the fun is really at in Fantasy Premier League and with a mammoth fixture schedule on the horizon for Gameweek 29, there are opportunities for big points hauls.

Some managers may be stunted in their attempts with four of the top six facing off against each other, meaning there could be tight games with fewer goals than we would like. There will be crucial matches in the title and Champions League qualification races, though.

Once the weekend slate ends, managers will watch on in hope on Tuesday and Wednesday when select players will be in action again thanks to the double gameweek.

Here are our top midfield picks for Gameweek 29.

Kaoru Mitoma (£5.5m)

FPL Gameweek 29 fixtures: Brentford (H) & Bournemouth (A)

Not the most niche pick given the form he has been in, but Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma is having a ball at the moment. Given the Seagulls are at home in a big game, he could step up and do the business for them once again.

With six goals and four assists in the league so far, the Japan international is sure to start against the Bees and could then bag a larger return in their trip to south coast colleagues Bournemouth on Tuesday.

Andreas Pereira (£4.3m)

FPL Gameweek 29 fixture: Bournemouth (A)

Former Man Utd midfielder Andreas Pereira has found some form and consistency at Fulham this season and will look to be creator-in-chief when they take on Bournemouth, a side who concede a lot of goals and are seriously threatened by relegation.

He currently has a form rating of 5.0 from FPL and having scored twice and assisted six times, Pereira could be well-placed to grab some points this weekend.

James Maddison (£8.2m)

FPL Gameweek 29 fixtures: Crystal Palace (A) & Aston Villa (H)

He may be one of the more expensive players on the game, but James Maddison's quality has been clear since he returned from injury. Act fast, too, because ownership is only 10% right now with so many taking him out when he was injured.

Given Leicester need points and are away at an uninspiring Crystal Palace team, Maddison could be in for a rewarding few games having been buoyed by his return to England duty.

Martin Odegaard (£6.9m)

FPL Gameweek 29 fixture: Leeds (H)

Norwegian star Martin Odegaard may be owned by 32.8% of players, but he could potentially have an absolute ball at the weekend with Premier League leaders Arsenal hosting a leaky Leeds side at the Emirates.

He has scored an impressive ten goals and grabbed seven assists in the Premier League this season and still seems underpriced at £6.9m compared to others.

Odegaard will almost certainly be involved in anything good that Arsenal do at the weekend.

When is the FPL Gameweek 29 deadline?

The deadline to make changes for Gameweek 29 should not catch too many people out. It's at 11:00 BST on Saturday 1 April. That means you can make final changes before gearing up to watch Man City vs Liverpool at 12:30.

That is one of seven games on Saturday with Chelsea vs Aston Villa being at 17:30. Two games are played on Sunday, including Newcastle vs Manchester United, before Monday night's clash between Everton and Tottenham in the latter's first game without Antonio Conte.

Rearranged Premier League fixtures then take over on Tuesday and Wednesday, with Chelsea taking on Liverpool and Brentford visiting Man Utd in two of the biggest games.
