FC Dallas have tied down homegrown midfielder Paxton Pomykal to a new long-term contract.

The 23-year-old's new deal runs for four years through the 2026 MLS season with Dallas holding an option to extend again through 2027.

Pomykal is Dallas' longest-serving current player having turned pro with the club in 2016, playing 110 times across all competitions since then, scoring four goals and providing five assists. On the international stage, Pomykal is capped once for the USMNT following an extensive career at youth level.

“It feels good,” Pomykal said in a statement. “I love being here. With Nico [Estevez] and the rest of the guys, we're starting something special and I want to be a part of that. That's why I'm looking forward to the next few years here and bringing titles home.”

The midfielder has often been tipped for a big move to Europe in the past, though injuries initially slowed his development. However, Pomykal has featured in 64 of Dallas' last 68 matches across the previous two MLS regular season campaigns, playing almost 2,500 minutes in 2022.

Pomykal's new contract is the latest step in FC Dallas' preparations for the 2023 season, with the club looking to once again reach the MLS Cup Playoffs after finishing third in the Western Conference last time out.
