The Football Association of Wales (FAW) have confirmed that Ryan Giggs will not take charge of Wales for their upcoming clashes with USA, Republic of Ireland and Finland, following his arrest.

The 46-year-old was arrested over the weekend on suspicion of assaulting girlfriend Kate Greville, although he was quickly released on bail pending further inquiries.

Giggs has denied all allegations and a statement released on his behalf added that he is cooperating with the police and will continue to assist them.

The former Manchester United man was due to announce his Wales squad for the upcoming matches against USA (friendly), Republic of Ireland and Finland (both Nations League) on Tuesday, but this has been cancelled.

The FAW have now taken to their official website to confirm that Giggs will not take charge of Wales for the three games later this month as inquiries are ongoing.

A statement reads: "The Football Association of Wales and Ryan Giggs have mutually agreed that he will not be involved in the upcoming international camp.

"Our agreed immediate priority is preparing the team for the upcoming international matches. Robert Page, with Ryan’s support, will take charge for the next three matches against the USA, Republic of Ireland and Finland supported by Albert Stuivenberg."

The FAW further add that the Wales squad will now be announced on Thursday 5 October.

Wales are scheduled to face the United States on 12 November at Swansea’s Liberty Stadium, before then facing off against Ireland and Finland in the Nations League at home. Wales currently top their group after four games, having picked up ten points so far. However, Finland are just one point behind, while Ireland have two points to their name so far and Bulgaria have just the one.

Wales are yet to taste defeat in their group and haven't even conceded a goal up to this point. But the upcoming clashes will be a major test with Giggs standing aside for the time being while the police continue their investigation into the allegations of assault.
