Liverpool attacker Fabio Carvalho has made the surprising revelation that he doesn’t much speak with Jurgen Klopp and there were no words of advice from the boss when the youngster recently completed his season-long loan move to RB Leipzig.

Signed from Fulham last summer while still a teenager, Carvalho was initially heavily involved and came off the bench in nearly every Premier League game prior to the World Cup break. He even scored a dramatic 98th minute in one outing against Newcastle.

Yet Carvalho went on to find further game time hard to come by and he only played eight further minutes of Premier League football after the World Cup. 90min reported in April that Liverpool were prepared to let him leave on loan in the summer and his Bundesliga switch was sealed a month later.

RB Leipzig, a club where young players often thrive, could be the perfect opportunity.

But how much contact there will be from Klopp back at Anfield remains to be seen following Carvalho's admission that they already didn’t speak much.

"I don't really speak to him, so he didn't give me any advice [about the loan]," Carvalho said to The Athletic.

"I have to just learn as I go and I don’t think that’s a bad thing. I feel like that's better anyway, for me to mature as a person and as a player."
