Ex-Chelsea manager Graham Potter has turned down a return to football with Olympique Lyonnais after being offered the job this week, 90min understands.

Potter has been out of work since April following his dismissal as Chelsea manager. The ex-Brighton and Swansea coach spent just eight months at Stamford Bridge after replacing Thomas Tuchel at the helm, winning a measly 38.7% of his games in charge of the Blues.

He has since been under consideration for a number of jobs, with the most notable being the Fulham post when Marco Silva was in talks over a move to Saudi Pro League outfit Al Hilal - a move that did not end up materialising.

90min understands that the latest club to have shown an interest in Potter's services are Ligue 1 giants Lyon. Sources have confirmed that the club's co-owner John Textor met with Potter this week in order to offer him the first-team managerial role at the Groupama Stadium. Potter, however, turned down the opportunity.

Current Lyon manager Laurent Blanc is set to lose his job following a truly disastrous start to the 2023/24 campaign. Lyon have picked up just one point from their first four games of the season, losing to Montpellier and Paris Saint-Germain 4-1 in that period too and now sit at the foot of the table.

With Potter out of the running for the role, sources have told 90min that Will Still is currently the leading candidate to take charge at Lyon. The English manager became an internet sensation last season thanks to his impressive results at Reims and also his love of Football Manager.
