Every Premier League club's player of the 2022/23 season
After 10 long months, the 2022/23 Premier League season is finally over, so now it's time to reflect on how all our favourite clubs and players performed.
While not every club enjoyed a particularly great season, there were still at least a few footballers who shone for each team in the division.
Here's the best of the bunch:
AFC Bournemouth - Jefferson Lerma
Hands up if you thought Bournemouth would stay up this season.
Put your hand down, you're only lying to yourself.
Key to the Cherries proving everyone in the world wrong during the 2022/23 campaign was the brilliant performances of Jefferson Lerma, who scored five crucial goals for his side and earned himself the fans' player of the season award.
Arsenal - Bukayo Saka
There were plenty of contenders for Arsenal's player of the season - Martin Odegaard, Granit Xhaka and William Saliba to name a few - but Bukayo Saka had to the nod for his quite brilliant return of 14 goals and 11 assists.
At just 21 years old he's already one of the best players in the Premier League.
Aston Villa - Ollie Watkins
There was a period this season during which Ollie Watkins wasn't just the best player at Aston Villa, but arguably the best player in the whole league.
His run of 11 goals in 12 games will be talked about at Villa Park for years to come.
Brentford - Ivan Toney
Only two Premier League players outscored Ivan Toney this season: Harry Kane and Erling Haaland.
That's how good Toney was for Brentford.
It's a pity they'll have to do without him for much of next season.
Brighton and Hove Albion - Moises Caicedo
Moises Caicedo was instrumental helping Brighton reach previously unthinkable heights in the Premier League.
His all-actions displays during the 2022/23 campaign are likely to set off a bidding war between Europe's elite clubs this summer.
Chelsea - Thiago Silva
Considering just how horrid a season Chelsea endured, it feels odd picking a 'player of the season'.
We'll give the nod to Thiago Silva though as he was the only player who didn't completely and utterly embarrass himself at Stamford Bridge.
Crystal Palace - Eberechi Eze
At the tail end of the season, Eberechi Eze went from being one of the most eye-catching players in the leage to one of the most effective. He even played his way into the England squad.
Six of his ten goals in the Premier League came at the end of the season, and one of them was one of the best scored anywhere all year.
Everton - Abdoulaye Doucoure
The man who scored the goal that kept Everton in the Premier League. Of course he's Everton's player of the season.
Fulham - Joao Palhinha
It can't be understated just how much of an impact Joao Palhinha had on Fulham's fortunes following his £20m move to the club. The Portuguese midfielder was the heart and soul of Marco Silva's team, making almost 50 more successful tackles than anyone else in the whole division.
Leeds United - Rodrigo
Rodrigo scored 13 goals and really, really tried to keep Leeds United in the Premier League - which is more than you can say about many of his teammates.
Leicester City - Harvey Barnes
Much like Rodrigo at Leeds, Harvey Barnes also scored 13 goals and made a real effort to keep his team in the top flight - again, with a disappointing outcome.
Liverpool - Mohamed Salah
Perhaps the best way to quantify just how incredible a football Mohamed Salah is, is by writing that he scored 19 goals and bagged 12 assists in the Premier League during a down year by his standards.
He's remarkable.
Manchester City - Erling Haaland
Speaking of remarkable, here's Erling Haaland - the man who broke the single season goalscoring record in the Premier League in his first year in England.
Manchester United - Marcus Rashford
2022/23 was the best campaign of Marcus Rashford's career.
The England international scored 17 league goals and finally showed a ruthlessness in front of goal that he'd perhaps been missing up until this season.
Newcastle United - Bruno Guimaraes
Signing Bruno Guimaraes last January seemingly instantly made Newcastle United top four challengers.
In his first full season in the north east, the Brazilian helped his side become a top four club thanks to his rampant running and quality in the middle of the park. Now, the Magpies are back in the Champions League for the first time since 2003.
Nottingham Forest - Morgan Gibbs-White
Here's a fun stat: Morgan Gibbs-White is the first player in the Premier League to create more than 60 chances, complete over 200 passes in the opposition penalty box, complete over 50 dribbles and win over 50 aerial duels in a season since Gareth Bale's final campaign at Tottenham Hotspur.
Southampton - Romeo Lavia
Not a lot went right for Southampton during the 2022/23 season...in fact nothing went right for Southampton...they finished bottom of the league.
One small shining light during a torrid campaign however was Romeo Lavia, who did perfomed admirably in the heart of their midfield.
Tottenham Hotspur - Harry Kane
Harry Kane managed to score 30 goals for a fully bad Tottenham Hotspur team.
That's very, very impressive.
West Ham United - Declan Rice
Will there ever be year that Declan Rice isn't West Ham's player of the season?
If he leaves: yes.
If he doesn't: nope.
Wolves - Ruben Neves
It looks like Ruben Neves is finally set to leave Wolves this summer, and due to his consistently solid performances in 2022/23 he'll be leaving on a high.
