Erling Haaland created Premier League history as Manchester City made a defining statement in Wednesday's 4-1 win over title rivals Arsenal.

A Kevin De Bruyne masterclass saw Pep Guardiola's side overpower Mikel Arteta's Gunners, closing the gap between the two sides to two points with City boasting a couple of games in hand.

Key to their treble bid all season has been Haaland. The powerful Norwegian, signed from Borussia Dortmund last summer, is one away from a half century of goals in his first season at the Etihad, with his latest strike coming on Wednesday night.

Having assisted two goals for De Bruyne, Haaland let his hair down and put the finishing touches on the 4-1 victory in the 94th minute, bringing up his 33rd Premier League goal of the season.

That takes him past the previous record of 32 goals set by Liverpool's Mohamed Salah in 2017/18 for a 38-game campaign.

The 22-year-old can overtake Alan Shearer and Andy Cole - who scored 34 goals in a single 42-match season in 1993/94 and 1994/95 respectively - in the final seven league games of City's season as they chase league, Champions League and FA Cup success.

Haaland has often put the finishing touches on brilliant City moves but has stolen the show with his awesome finishing in his own right. Here are his best league goals in England so far.

1. West Ham 0-2 Manchester City

Date: 07/08/2022

Haaland had already netted a penalty on his Premier League debut when he raced beyond West Ham's backline and finished off De Bruyne's pinpoint through ball.

It was the start of a blossoming understanding between the two modern icons.

2. Manchester City 4-2 Crystal Palace

Date: 27/08/2022

Crystal Palace have been a bogey side for City over the years and threatened another upset at the start of the season as a John Stones own goal and Joachim Andersen's 21st-minute effort sent the visitors into a 2-0 lead.

Bernardo Silva halved the deficit before Haaland's hat trick completed a powerful comeback from the reigning champions. His third combined balance and strength to hold off two Palace defenders and finish with ease.

3. Wolves 0-3 Manchester City

Date: 17/09/2022

A first minute goal from Jack Grealish had City in control from the very start on their trip to Molineux in September.

Haaland then stormed towards the Wolves goal and fired in from the edge of the box before Nathan Collins was sent off for the hosts. Phil Foden wrapped up proceedings in the 69th minute.

4. Manchester City 6-3 Manchester United

Date: 02/10/2022

Haaland's unique physique helps him score goals other strikers around the world can only dream of.

His gangly legs helped him convert De Bruyne's cross at the back post in the crushing 6-3 Manchester derby victory over United in October.

5. Leeds 1-3 Manchester City

Date: 22/10/2022

Haaland scored twice on his nostalgic trip to Elland Road. The first was a tap in and the second the finishing touches of a flowing counter-attack from City.

De Bruyne quickly upped the tempo before Grealish set Haaland up for the second time. It was his 20th league goal of the season already by late October.

6. Southampton 1-4 Manchester City

Date: 08/04/2023

Haaland was at his acrobatic best to convert another Grealish cross, this time away at Southampton.

The former Dortmund striker connected perfectly with an overhead kick as City waltzed to a thumping win at St. Mary's.
