Erik ten Hag has admitted that Manchester United are currently too reliant on Marcus Rashford for goals.

Rashford has been in career-best form during the 2022/23 season, scoring 28 goals in all competitions for the Red Devils.

The forward was once again on-hand to score the winner for Man Utd during their tense clash with Brentford at Old Trafford Wednesday evening, volleying home a first-half winner.

When asked by the press if his team are currently too reliant on Rashford for goals however, Ten Hag replied: “Yeah, it’s the truth.

“But also we know other players can score as well: Bruno, Antony scored a couple of goals, Jadon Sancho can score, Marcel Sabitzer can score. We have many more players across the squad who can score. What you want as a squad is that you have two players who can score more than 12 or 15 goals a season.”

Man Utd have been heavily linked with a number of strikers heading into this summer's transfer window, with Wout Weghorst - currently on loan from Burnley - being a temporary fix up top for the club.

90min understands that the club are interested in Harry Kane and are in the race to sign Victor Osmihen too - although the latter is considered Chelsea's top target.

Ten Hag on Rashford's performance against Brentford

Ten Hag also took the time to praise Rashford's overall performance in the win over Brentford, stating:

“He played a very good game. He came out of the frontline, we used him as a target, and he was back in the box where we expect him to be, so he was in the right moment to finish.

"It was from a corner but ok the cooperation between him and Marcel Sabitzer was very good, but also with Jadon and Antony. It was very good so I was happy with the front four.”
