Erik ten Hag declined to comment on Mason Greenwood and Manchester United's internal investigation during his Friday press conference.

The Dutchman was addressing the media just a day after Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and assault charges levelled at 21-year-old Greenwood had been dropped.

United released a statement stating that they would conduct their own investigation into the matter, and sources confirmed to 90min later in the day that Greenwood would not return to the club in any capacity while that process takes place.

Greenwood released a statement of his own too, saying that he was 'relieved the matter is now over', but Ten Hag declined to say anything when approached about the subject in his latest media briefing.

"No. Nothing. I can't add nothing, I refer to the statement of the club." Ten Hag said when asked about Greenwood.

On whether he was part of the process or had spoken to the player, he added: "As I said, in this moment, I can't give comment about the process.

"I can't say anything about it, I refer to the statement of the club and at this moment I can't add anything."

Ten Hag was instead keen to focus on playing matters, and stressed his determination for United to put in a better performance when they face Crystal Palace at the weekend.

The Red Devils were held to a 1-1 draw by Patrick Vieira's side recently, thanks to Michael Olise's late free-kick, and Ten Hag demanded that his players do better this time.

"We have always to focus on the game, no matter what," Ten Hag said. "That is our job, that is why we are here. We have a lot to do against them.

"Two weeks ago we had a bad performance there, I wasn't happy with the performance from us, it was 90% focus and energy and we dropped two points. So we have to avoid that tomorrow.

"Tomorrow we need a better game, better focus in the game, but especially a better conduct in the way of play because we have to beat them, because that's quite clear. We know a lot [about] them, they know a lot about us, we were really unhappy with our game at Crystal Palace so I demand a much better performance than in London, so we have a good chance to win."
