England 4-0 Andorra: Player ratings as Three Lions ease to comfortable win

England maintained their 100% winning record in World Cup qualifying as a Jesse Lingard brace helped to secure a comfortable 4-0 win over minnows Andorra at Wembley.

Unsurprisingly, the hosts dominated the ball from the off with their opponents completing just 13 passes in the entire first half.

It took just 18 minutes for England to take the lead with a clever piece of skill from Jude Bellingham setting Bukayo Saka free down the left-hand side. He then pulled it back for Lingard to register his first international goal since 2018.

England continued to hog the ball until half time with Patrick Bamford and Saka both going close to adding to the lead.

Early in the second half Reece James hit the bar with a vicious long-ranged effort, before a triple substitution was required to try and re-energise England.

Those brought on, Mason Mount, Jack Grealish and Harry Kane, were all involved in their side's second goal with the former two combining before Mount was brought down in the box. Kane then made no mistake from the penalty spot, doubling England's advantage.

England then added a third when Lingard fired in a strange-looking effort from just outside the box, before goal number four came courtesy of Saka six minutes from time; the Arsenal forward nodding home Lingard's cross on his 20th birthday.

The victory keeps England in pole position to secure the only automatic World Cup qualification spot in Group I.

ENGLAND

1. Goalkeeper & defenders

Sam Johnstone (GK) - 6/10 - Had one 'save' to make in the first half but ultimately it was a very boring evening. Hopefully he brought a crossword with him or something.

Reece James (RB) - 7/10 - Started at right-back and was solid. Then moved into midfield and fared well. He hit the bar with a wonderful long-ranged effort just after the break and always wanted the ball.

Conor Coady (CB) - 7/10 - Barely tested. He made everything look extremely easy, not giving Andorra a sniff all evening.

Tyrone Mings (CB) - 7/10 - As above... but with slightly more headers and better passing.

Kieran Trippier (LB) - 6/10 - A few loose passes aside he put in a solid shift, although he might have contributed more in the final third.

2. Midfielders

Trent Alexander-Arnold (CM) - 6/10 - People have been calling for Alexander-Arnold to play in midfield for years, but in the end it was a pretty underwhelming display. Looked much better when he moved to right-back after the break.

Jude Bellingham (CM) - 7/10 - Lit up Wembley in the first half. His brilliant drag-back created the opener and he ran things in midfield. Taken off on the hour mark but it was a very encouraging display.

Jordan Henderson (CM) - 7/10 - Switched the play effectively with some excellent cross-field passes. Also plugged the gaps well.

3. Forwards

Jesse Lingard (RW) - 8/10 - Enjoyed what is likely to be his last start in a long while. Got his goals and was always busy. Three offsides against a team of Andorra's quality is pretty poor, though.

Patrick Bamford (ST) - 6/10 - Will be disappointed with his finishing but he got through a lot of good work off the ball. The challenge for him now is establishing himself as England's second-choice striker.

Bukayo Saka (LW) - 7/10 - One of his side's brightest lights. He scared the Andorran defence with his direct running and his delivery was spot on too. Assisted the opener and attracted a string of fouls.

4. Substitutes

Mason Mount - 7/10 - Won the penalty that led to his side's second goal.

Harry Kane - 7/10 - Converted from the spot kick, because of course he did - he's Harry Kane. Missed a sitter after that, before luckily (for him) being flagged offside.

Jack Grealish - 7/10 - Added the spark England needed after things simmered down in the second half.
