Elche team news

Pedro Bigas was stretchered off during Elche's 2-2 draw with Valencia on Saturday after catching Giorgi Mamardashvili's elbow in his face. The centre-back is unlikely to feature as soon as Wednesday after such a collision.

The veteran winger Fidel is also a doubt after missing the last three matches with a hamstring strain.

Real Madrid team news

Thibaut Courtois didn't recover from his back problems in time to feature against Barcelona on Sunday. Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that the keeper will return to training this week but was deliberately vague about his reintroduction thereafter, offering: "We'll see for Wednesday or next Sunday."

Dani Ceballos is expected to remain on the sidelines with a hamstring problem but Antonio Rudiger came off the bench on Sunday despite receiving 20 stitches in his forehead in midweek.

Real Madrid predicted lineup vs Elche

Real Madrid Starting 11 (4-3-3): Lunin; Vazquez, Militao, Rudiger, Mendy; Valverde, Tchouameni, Camavinga; Rodrygo, Benzema, Vinicius.

Elche vs Real Madrid score prediction

Elche's lowly standing is hardly a miscarriage of footballing justice. The team's dire underlying numbers reflect the struggles which ultimately led to the departure of manager Francisco this month. His permanent replacement, the returning Jorge Almiron, watched his side battle out a draw with Valencia on Saturday, but Real Madrid pose an altogether tougher challenge.

There is the distinct possibility that Los Blancos approach the contest with an air of 'after the Lord Mayor's show' in the wake of El Clasico. However, even a second-string Madrid side should have enough to overcome the worst team in the division.

Prediction: Elche 1-3 Real Madrid
