RB Leipzig winger Dani Olmo is refusing to let rumours of a Manchester City transfer distract him, although he labelled the European champions "one of the biggest" clubs in the world.

City are determined to keep hold of Bernardo Silva this summer and are confident of agreeing a new contract with the Portuguese star. But Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez have left since the end of last season, lessening Pep Guardiola’s attacking midfield and wide options. Raheem Sterling also hasn’t been directly replaced since he joined Chelsea in 2022.

To complicate things further, midfield maestro Kevin De Bruyne has undergone surgery on a hamstring injury which is expected to sideline him for the rest of 2023.

As 90min reported, City have already agreed personal terms with Belgian winger Jeremy Doku, who has made it clear to current club Rennes he only wants to join Pep Guardiola’s team, to try and inject some extra creativity.

Transfer rumours in Germany have also linked Olmo with City. The 25-year-old only signed a new Leipzig contract in June, but it is reported to have a €60m (£51m) release clause active from 2024.

For now, Olmo told Sport Bild that he has "nothing" to say about joining Manchester City.

"I'm fully focused on the task in Leipzig, the Bundesliga, the Champions League and the cup," he said to the German publication. "Manchester City is a big club, one of the biggest in the world. Josko [Gvardiol] went there. But I'm happy here."

Gvardiol, who has started at left-back in each of City’s last two games against Newcastle and Sevilla, is not the only big money sale made by RB Leipzig this summer. The €90m (£77m) Croatian has been joined by Christopher Nkunku and Dominik Szoboszlai in heading to the Premier League.
